Saurabh Shukla

Saurabh Shukla's journey from theater to film began when his family moved from Gorakhpur to Delhi, where he graduated from Khalsa College and entered the theater scene in 1984. After serious stage work in prominent plays and joining the National School of Drama's NSD Repertoire Company in 1991, he landed his first major film break when Shekhar Kapur cast him in Bandit Queen (1994), followed by a role in the TV series Tehkikat. His career reached a major turning point in 1998 when he co-wrote the script for Ram Gopal Varma’s cult classic Satya—winning a Star Screen Award for Best Screenplay—and famously played the gangster Kallu Mama. He later won a Zee Cine Award for writing Calcutta Mail (2003) and achieved international recognition as Constable Srinivas in the Academy Award-winning film Slumdog Millionaire (2008).
